Spring? Not yet!

I just came back yesterday from a 2-days trip to Okayama (close to the Shikoku island on Honshu). I was studying there, how to teach English to very young children. I had a really great time, because also the weather was beautiful.
On Monday morning I left my hotel at 8 AM and took a look around the area close to the Okayama station. There was a really cute water channel and along many trees and flowers were blooming. I could also hear some birds singing there "A morning in spring"-melody. That moment I felt really jealous, because all that I can hear since I came back to Hokkaido are the crows sobbing and sound of my shoes splashing through the only slowly melting combination of snow and ice. :(
So what do you think, how much longer do we have to endure the winter? Is there any ray of hope? Please let me know!
