Hokkaido in 172 colors

Oh, how I love Hokkaido! And one of the reasons is the change in seasons. I always said I could never live somewhere where there are no seasons. I am always happy to see the little signs that indicate a change in season. I love the winter for its snow and I don't want to stop snowboarding. But when I see the first flowers popping out of the snow, I feel happy. Soon you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. No need for a jacket anymore. The festival season starts and is over way to soon. The winds pick up and leaves change their colors.

In Germany, we have this changes, too. But I feel it's more appreciated here in Japan. People get their cameras out and meet for a picnic under the cherry blossoms or autumn leaves. I wanted to have some Kōyō too. So I went to Jozankei Onsen with my camera. I was stunned! So many different colors! Everything was red and yellow and brown and orange. More than that: flamingo, crimson, canary, buff.... Yes, these are all colors! Did you know that there are 172 different colors in a standard dictionary? Maybe that's just enough to describe the blaze of color in Jozankei.....

Origami lotus

Hey guys,

how are you? Did you have a nice and spooky Halloween?

I didn't do Origami for a while now, but I found a nice one some time ago and finally had the time to try it out.
It is an Origami Lotus flower. For the flower you need 8 papers (size 13.5 cm x 7.5 cm) in a color that you like, 4 papers (size 13.5 cm x 7.5 cm) in green for the leaves and a piece of thread. The paper size is a bit unusual for Origami and you can't buy this size in the shop, but you can, for example, use standard size Origami paper and just cut it a bit at the edges.
When you follow this link you can watch the folding instructions as a video on youtube.

Or you can just type in "Origami lotus" into the search bar on youtube to find the video.
How about making a flower in pink, red or purple? They also make a nice dinner table decoration. It's easy!

Have fun folding!
