Hiking Fun in Shokanbetsu

I went on a really fun trip recently to Shokanbetsu this month. I went with a tour group and stayed in a cabin. It was really cool! We also visited a sake distillery before staying in the cabin. I don't like sake as much as I like shochu or whiskey, but it was fun to see how it is made!

Hiking the mountain the next day was really hard! Actually, half of the group turned around before the top of the mountain because it was starting to rain and it was really windy. The people who went to the top said it wasn't worth it and it was pretty dangerous!

I was so happy to come back to the cabin. That was the hardest hike I have ever done! It was such a releif to go to Hamamasu Onsen after the hike. I really needed to get cleaned up and relax in the hot water.

The tour guides were really cool too. One of them is from Boston in the U.S.A. He is here on the JET program and has traveled all over the world. His wife is the other tour guide. She is from Sakhalin island in Russia. She knows a lot about the plants and animals in Hokkaido because Sakhalin and Hokkaido have almost the same environment. I was really happy to meet them and go on such a fun trip!

Neverending flowers

When I went to Nakajima Park the last weeks, I realized, there are a lot of bushes with blooms, which are pink or blue in summer.
Now, all the blooms are gone for a few weeks. But, 3 weeks ago, I just counted a single one still being blue and full of energy. I came back 2 weeks ago. And I came back this week. It got very cold the last nights, sometimes belong 10 degrees. Anyway... the bloom is still there. Blue and full of energy. Just wonder how it is possible and when it will be gone.
Now I'm looking forward for the breathtaking leave colouring of the trees during autumn. I've just seen it on pictures, but in real it must be much more fascinating. Wish you guys a wonderful autumn season!
