Winter is...

Hi everyone!
Ciao!!!

First of all, Happy New Year!!!
How are you? Did you enjoy your New Years Eve?
I spend it with my friends, having a kind of international party where i ate a lot of strange kind of foods! After the dinner, at midnight, i went to the Hokkaido Shrine in Maruyama Koen! There was a peaceful atmosphere that i really loved and i bought for the first time in my life an "omikuji". I have to admit i got really exicited becouse it was something i always wanted to do!!!

What else? I'm just trying to survive the freezing cold.

Ah right.. i was about to forget it..
Recently i had the chance to go to Tokyo! It was a very short trip, just 5 days and 4 nights, but i really enjoyed it.
I visited all the most famous places of the japanese capital: Ueno, Asakusa, Shinjuku, Ginza, Shibuya, Arajuku, the Meiji Jingu and the Emperor Palace.
Tokyo is so busy and everyone seems to be always in a hurry. I really loved this city, but when it comes to live in a place for a long time, honestly i prefer Sapporo; the atmosphere is much more friendly and warm, even if outside we have -10C°!!

Next month there will be the Snow Festival in Sapporo and the Candle Festival in Otaru. I'm really looking forward to seeing them!

Hope to see you soon in the Chit Chat Cafè to talk with you!!

Ciao

This is it!

Hi minnasan!
First thing I wanna say is, happy new year to everyone. I hope 2013 will be a healthy and wealthy year for all of you, may all your plans come true and all your surprises be only good ones.

For me being in Sapporo, as we say in France: "ca sent le sapin" which means "it smells like Christmas tree". Christmas trees being usually used to make coffin in my country, we use that expression/joke to say that "it smells like the end" that we are close to the end. In my case that means that my VISA approaching to the end, sadly I 'm gonna have to leave Sapporo by the end of March. believe me when I say that being at the end of my stay in that awesome city, does not make me happy but this is life and I knew when I first came here that some day I would have to go back to my country. Well in 2 months by now that day will be here and I can already tell that that year in Sapporo was great and very useful. I will miss you guys when I won't be here anymore to meet you so I hope we can meet a lot during my 2 months remaining.
Some of you already know that but for those who do not know are, one: go back to university for one last year, two: grab that degree that I need so bad and three: go back to Japan as soon as possible. Unfortunately finding a good job in Sapporo being very hard next time I expect to go to Tokyo or eventually Osaka.
If you put this aside I have no special plan for the near future, I just want to enjoy the rest of the adventure the same way I have enjoyed till now, keep studying, meeting my friends some times for a drink, doing some snowboard if my back ever heal completely and talking with you as much as possible.

As usual I hope to see you soon, take care,

Gilles (France)

2013

Happy year of the snake everyone!!
By the way I was born in the year of the snake so I am 年男 ( I don't think we have this word in English). As many of you may know I am looking for a new job again this year so there is a possibility that I will be leaving Sapporo. I don't know what I will do or where I will go, just Hokkaido doesn't have many job opportunities. Besides that all is well am I am just waiting for warmer weather to come.

Take care everyone,
Teren (USA)
