Thank You

Hello everyone!
This is be my last blog. It has been a long yet short 7 months of stay in Sapporo, Japan. I am so glad I was able to meet so many people while working at Chit Chat Cafe. I had so much fun talking with everyone and learning so many things about you and about Japan. I am really glad I had an opportunity to come to Japan this year. It was my first time coming to Japan and I do not intend for it to be my last trip to Japan. I will somehow make it that I will be able to come back to Japan! We will meet again, I know it!

Thank you for all the experiences and time since I've been at Chit Chat Cafe. I had a great time and I hope you did as well. Keep up the hard work and keep studying English. Do not be scared to use English. Even a little speaking might become something great or useful in the future. When I visit/stay in Japan again, I will come back to Sapporo and then we can see how you have improved your English. So keep up the good work!!

Sincerely,
Gaoly Thao (USA)

Making music with computers

I would like to tell you guys about my hobby which is making music with computers.

When I was about 12 years old, my parents bought a new computer.

A lot of softwares were already installed in it. One of my favorite one was “Magic Music Maker”

This is a software for beginners made for making music. This software include pre recorded audio samples and a sequencer. Users have to choose samples that they like and drag it to the sequencer. when you push the play button, it plays all the samples that you chose.

About 4 tracks can be layered. For example, one track for drums, one for guitars, one for pianos and another for vocals. It is also possible to insert effects to that tracks. For example a reverb or delay effect. That was a very basic software but it was a lot of fun. I had a lot of good time making music by putting all theses samples in order.

This software were often updated over the years. The newest version must be about the 20th.

It has now more options and possibilities.

For example the number of tracks is now infinite. A lot more effects can be inserted. The sound quality has also been enhanced. This kind of software can be used by anybody. Even people without any knowledges in music can use it.

The software that I'm using now doesn't has any samples. I am now able to play and record my own samples using a digital piano or a synthesizer. The final result is much more original.

Some professional artists use samples in addition to their own music.

If you guys are interested in making music, I recommend these sample softwares. It's a lot of fun and it's cheap!

Time

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe that I lived in Japan for about 6 months already! Time sure flies. Didn't think that it would be November already. I'm really sad that I have to go back to the United States in this December. So I hope I can make a lot of memories before then. I hope I can see the snow before I leave. I heard so many stories of how Hokkaido gets a lot of snow in the winter. It will be very interesting.

There are so much of Japan that I have yet seen. I hope I can explore Hokkaido a little more too. I wonder if I can go to various places in a month...? Well, I'll make the best of what I have left! It is good to always be positive about things like this. It is never good bye. I'll definitely come back to Japan in the future. After graduating from college in a year, I just need to find a good program or job that takes me to Japan. Then I will be able to come back and visit the rest of Japan, especially Honshu. So wish me luck!

I'm really glad I came to Japan and be exposed to so many new things, especially meeting everyone in Chit Chat Cafe. It will be a memory I will never forget. Thank you for everything and keep on using English. It will take you very far in the future. You'll be able to encounter more things than before. Maybe I'll be able to meet you again in the future, whether it is in Japan or the United States.
