Spring is here!

I am so glad that spring is finally here. Firstly, because unfortunately I am not a fan of Hokkaido winters. I grew up in Englandwhere snow is very rare and always brief, so my first winter here was quite ashock. It also means, of course, that Hanami season is just around the corner!

Last year I had a great party with myfriends in Maruyama Park, eating food and telling stories. Then we went on adrive around all of Sapporo’s night view spots, and finally finishing off at myfavourite bar! It’s really one of my favourite memories in Hokkaido and I hopethat we can have as much fun this year too!

My first blog

Hello Everyone,

So this is my first blog for Chit Chat. I have been living in Sapporo for 7 months so I finally feel like I am getting into the swing of things. Tasks which were once hard are becoming more familiar and work has been wonderful. School will be starting next week so I'm excited to see my old teachers again. However, Kanji class is looming in the distance ... I love my teacher but she runs a very hard class so it's a little scary for homework load. This year, however, should be much more manageable as I've decided to take fewer classes in hopes of giving myself more of a break to work. All in all should be something to look forward to.

Besides that I have recently gone traveling across Japan. I went to visit many places, most of which I had been to before but wanted to return to. First I visited Tokyo. I met up with my friend from my home university whose been studying at Hiroshima University. We spent 4 days having a blast in Tokyo. Did some shopping and a lot of sight seeing. We went to see the Tokyo Skytree, we went up Tokyo Tower and looked around and managed to do some shopping in Ginza... Don't worry we choose stores that won't bust the bank. Then we headed off to Kansai. First visiting Osaka, then Kyoto, Nara and then Kobe. I really must say I love Kyoto it really is my favourite city in Japan. I just love the old style architecture and the serene peace and tranquility you can get from visiting all the various shrines and temples. The shrines and temples we had a chance to visit this time were Fushiminari and Kiyomizudera. After which we went shopping in Gion. Nara and Kobe were really nice too. They both kind of remind me of my home city. My city is Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I miss it a lot but I felt most at home when I was in Kansai for the similarities. In Osaka my favourite place of all time had to be SPA WORLD. It was the most amazing place I've ever been to EVER. We got to go to Europe World. It was something you can't ever explain in words. You had to have gone to know. After Kansai was Hiroshima for a quick 2 day stop so I could see my boyfriend before he went out to see for 7 months. Most of the time there we spent doing laundry, sleeping and me going off to have some date time with my boyfriend. Then we made out last trip to Kumamoto where we stayed with my other friend from my home university, his girlfriend and her family. Highlight for Kumamoto had to have been Kumamoto Castle. I really do love old style architecture. After a long trip about we both came to Sapporo and my friend stayed with me for 8 days before heading back to Hiroshima. I took her to Otaru one day but most of the time I was home I spent working so she mainly just went about on her own which she was happy to do. It was a spectacular trip.
